Pontremoli restaurants compete in annual slow food competition – Il Testo D’Oro

Testo D'oro LunigianaIt is the time of year when Pontremoli’s restaurants compete for the sought-after slow food title, Il Testo d’ Oro. From the beginning of December 2011 to the end of February 2012, 18 restaurants in the comune of Pontremoli will be offering traditional dishes made from local produce. Diners can vote for the top restaurant and in the process will be eligible to win prizes ranging from hotel stays and spa treatments to baskets filled with local products such as honey, olive oil, wine and chestnut flour.

I would love to have tried the current holder of the title, Podere Benelli, but they are not participating in the latest competition. Below is a list of restaurants hoping to win the title. To ensure the competition menu is available, please make a reservation in advance. And remember to ask for an evaluation card to complete at the end of your meal. Results will be announced in March 2012.
