Settimo Cielo is running a writing retreat from 5-11 October 2014. The retreat will be facilitated by Edana Minghella, the writer and jazz singer. Edana, an experienced group facilitator and qualified teacher of adults, is a writer of drama and fiction as well as influential papers and reports. As a writer, Edana is best known for her collaboration on several episodes of Doc Martin, the British medical comedy drama series starring Martin Clunes in the title role. The series was created by Dominic Minghella, Edana’s brother.
Vincent O’ Connell, the writer and director will run a masterclass on screenplay writing. Vincent has directed and written extensively for television, film and theatre. He has been shortlisted and won numerous international awards, including Best Television Drama for the Royal Television Society, an Honorary Mention at the San Francisco Film Festival, and a BAFTA education film award. Vincent’s masterclass offers an excellent opportunity to grapple with key issues that matter for all writers: character, storyline, dialogue, and structure.
The writing retreat will be held at Settimo Cielo, the luxury Bed & Breakfast located in a beautiful setting near Licciana Nardi. Accommodation will be at the retreat, and includes excellent home-cooked meals, transfers from the nearby train station provided, and a day trip to the Cinque Terre. The location aims to provide attendees with the environment and stimulus needed to write creatively.
