Montagne Verde top restaurant in Lunigiana in the Menu a Km Zero Competition

Menu a Km Zero 2011 in LunigianaCongratulations to Montagne Verde, which came second overall in the 2011 Menu a Km Zero competition run by the Parco Nazionale dell’ Appennino Tosco Emiliano and the Communità Montana dell’ Appennino, making it the top restaurant from Lunigiana to take part.

The overall winner of the competition was Agriturismo Valle dei Cavalieri in Succiso, Reggio Emilia, and in third place was the Rifugio Monteorsaro in Villa Minozzo, Reggio Emilia. In total, 32 restaurants competed for the title, of which five were from Lunigiana, including last year’s overall winner, Osteria Boccondivino in Pontebosio near Licciana Nardi.

The menus of the top three restaurants were all cooked by young chefs. The oldest chef was from the overall winner, Agriturismo Valle dei Cavalier, and is only 33 years old.

Here is Montagne Verde’s winning menu:

  • Antipasto: Sgabei e salumi tipici del Parco, Cipollotti in agrodolce, Sformatino di farro all’uvetta e pinoli (or di zucca), Scarpacciana, Torta di porri e palate (or torta d’erbi o di zucche gialle), Polentina fritta con formaggio fuso e pancetta croccante (or con ragù di porcini), Pattone con ricotta o Castagnaccio
  • Primo Piatto: Tortelloni ai porcini con burro fuso e salvia, or Gnocchetti rustici di castagna con pomodorini e lardo di Colonnata, or Pappardelle al sugo di selvaggina
  • Secondo Piatto: Tagliata di manzo ai testi con radicchio selvatico e petali di Parmigiano Reggiano, or Maialino al forno glassato al miele di castagno con frutta di stagione, or Agnello di pecora zerasca o massese al forno in crosta di erbette
  • Contorno: Patate arrosto or Insalata dell’orto.
