Shuttle bus replaces the Pisa Airport train

On 15 December 2013, the train service between Pisa Centrale and Pisa Airport was replaced by a shuttle bus to enable work to begin on the new PisaMover airport connection that will provide a fast, driverless service between the two locations. The project will take two years to complete at an estimated cost of around 80 million euros. The project includes a Park and Ride site for an estimated 1,500 cars.

The PisaMover bus stop at the airport is located outside the Departures Terminal and leaves every ten minutes for Pisa Centrale. At Pisa Centrale the bus leaves from the west exit, not the front exit. The west exit is located close to platform 14, the old platform for the airport train. Follow the existing ‘Aeroporto- Airport’ signs.

The journey takes eight minutes. The service runs every day, including Sundays and public holidays, from 06:00 until midnight.

Tickets can be bought at the kiosk in the airport arrivals hall or at Pisa Centrale, and cost €1.30. It is not possible to buy tickets online. However, if you have a train ticket that includes the journey from Pisa Centrale to the airport, or vice versa, they will be accepted on the shuttle bus.

The existing bus service between the airport and Pisa Centrale continues to provide up to seven buses per hour with a journey time of around five to six minutes.  The Lam Rossa bus stop is about 50 metres from the arrivals hall and you can purchase an urbano ticket at the ticket machine, valid for one hour, for €1.10. The bus stops outside the NH Cavalieri Hotel opposite Pisa Centrale. Timetables can be found here.
