Following protests at the closure of Punta Corvo beach for the entire 2011 season, emergency work has begun to make at least part of the beach safe from landslides.
“Operation Crow” has been put into place by the Comune of Ameglia as a first step to make the beach accessble again. Helicopters and bulldozers will drop material and build a fence to provide protection from rock falls at one end of the beach. Work is expected to be completed in August. Further work will be required to make the entire beach safe, and will require funding from the province of Liguria.
