Explore history, art and food along the Via Francigena

On Saturday, 15 June 2013, Farfalle in Cammino, the non-profit responsible tourism organisation, is offering a guided tour along the Via Francigena from the Cisa Pass to Pontremoli. You will be able to follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims and medieval merchants on a journey through history, art and the traditional food of the region.

The morning’s walk along the Via Francigena ends at Piagnaro Castle in Pontremoli, where a tasting lunch of traditional Lunigiana specialities will be served.  After lunch and a visit to the Museum of Stele Statues at the castle, the tour continues with a guided walk through the streets of Pontremoli to the Church of St Peter, which houses a 12th Century labyrinth stone.

The tour is in Italian but the tour guide will also be able to provide brief comments in English. English audio-guides are available at the Castle and Museum.

Good-priced overnight accommodation can be arranged and it will also be possible to organise other guided tours on Sunday, 16 June.

€25 per person; booking essential.
