The Parco Nazionale dell’ Appennino Tosco-Emiliano has announced the restaurants participating in the 2013 edition of the Zero Km restaurant competition. Twenty-five restaurants within the Park are offering special weekend lunch menus from Saturday, 19 October until Sunday, 15 December 2013.
The competition is sponsored by the National Park in collaboration with Coldiretti and ALMA, the International School of Italian cuisine based in Colorno, Parma. The aim is to showcase the local products of the region through innovative menus, as well as to promote the participating restaurants as ambassadors of the region.
Four of the participating restaurants are in Lunigiana, the remaining in the Garfagnana and Emilia-Romagna. The Lunigiana restaurants are:
- Albergo Ristorante La Nuova Jera at Jera in the comune of Bagnone. It is the first time the restaurant has participated in the competition. Here’s their menu, which includes Lunigiana favourites such as torta d’erbi, Treschietto onions, polenta bastarda and mela rotella.
- Ristorante Miramonti in Comano. A regular competitor in the competition, Ristorante Miramonti is offering a menu that includes local vegetable pies, lamb, cheese, honey and chestnuts.
- Agriturismo Montagne Verdi in Apella. A competitor since the start of the competition six years ago, its first winner in 2008 and runner up in 2011, Montagne Verdi’s menu includes venison, porcini, its own honey, salumi and cheese.
- Ristorante Marina e Paolo in Terrarossa. Also a competitor since the start of the competition in 2008, Ristorante Marina e Paolo is offering a menu that includes vegetable pies, pork, salumi, cheese and chestnuts.
Full information on the restaurants is available on the Parco Nazionale dell’Appennino Tosco-Emiliano‘s website, including menus and prices. Advance reservations are required.
